The Artist

How it all started

In April 2023 I fell pregnant with my first baby girl. In my second trimester I felt an overwhelming desire to start painting, that I just couldn't ignore.

I visited the local art supplies shop, bought myself some goodies, came home and started drawing and painting. I started with watercolour, I practiced drawing portraiture and from there, I made the leap to canvas painting with acrylics and oils, and the rest is history as they say!

Inspiration

As a little girl, my grandmother would read stories and nursery rhymes to me at bedtime.

When I visited, she would put Disney movies on for me. I also enjoyed theatre productions like Phantom of the Opera, Heathcliff of Wuthering Heights and Joseph and his amazing technicolor dream coat. Needless to say, I fell in love with stories and spent A LOT of time daydreaming!

The story world was my safe place, and as I got older, my love of folklore, mythology and fantasy deepened.

My artwork reflects my relationship with stories, and how their hidden messages can offer us a deeper understanding of ourselves and our lives.

Follow me on my creative journey, as I re-imagine some of my favourite myths and stories, and bring them to canvas!

My everyday life

I live in the stunning Lake District of Cumbria, with my partner, our two little girls, my step son and our long haired chihuahua. With access to the fells and lakes, our family spends the weekends outdoors in nature, hiking, camping and soaking up the scenery.

I spend my days being a very busy and entertaining mammy to our little girls, and once they're asleep, it's time for me to pick up the paint brushes and get creative for the evening!
